Welcome
My name is Griffin Xander Zimmerman (they/he), and I am a trans, neuroqueer, and disabled critical disability scholar, technical editor, and access consultant. I hold a PhD from University of Arizona in Rhetoric, Composition, and the Teaching of English, with a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. My body of research and published work is diverse in focus and unified by the theme of student access; my work continually investigates the boundaries of what is normative in order to identify opportunities to increase access and inclusion for marginalized students in higher education. You can learn more about my background in my various roles in my about section.
The Disability Studies Community Archive
The Disability Studies Community Archive (DSCA) is part of a dissertation project designed to create an online, collaborative, community-driven, annotated bibliographic mapping project for the broader disability studies community. Born from the recognition that traditional views of scholarship are designed around white-centric, colonialist investments in academic scholarship and thus deprivilege and devalue knowledge sharing through community: activism, art, music, storytelling, personal witness, and shared experience, this online mapping project is designed to realign Disability Studies as a discipline in a shared recognition of the narratives that bind us and help us share our culture, experiences, and values. You can learn more about the project, including opportunities to participate in its development, on the Projects page.
